Campus power, food wise together!

2025-11-05

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the ECF Saint Too Canaan College as well as the 63 parents and students who generously donated money to support the "Food Cherishing and Helping Others" initiative!  In addition to giving the community food and clothing, the campus's love infuses the surroundings with optimism.

We sincerely invite more schools to join this food wise campaign:

Participate in food conservation lectures and recycling experiences to cultivate students’ environmental awareness;

Initiate class or parent fundraising activities to gather resources and help others;

Become a partner of "Food Commons@Community" and promote sustainable development together

.Donating HK$300 per month can provide basic meals to the recipient families, turning students' kindness into practical actions and changing the destiny of the community! Your support keeps food relief efforts going! (Excluding projects funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund)

Over 270,000 people benefited from the Food Commons Foundation's successful collection of over 153 tonnes of food between August 2024 and July 2025, with a distribution rate of 99.68% thanks to partners Shatin Women's Association and Food Commons@ community volunteers!  Over 11,373 metric tonnes of food have been collected by the food recovery and sharing project since 2009, and over 10 million people have benefited overall.

List of food wise projects

The Tsu Te Kian Charitable Trust is providing funding for the "FoodCommons @ Community" project through November 2025.  Volunteers gather bread and lunchboxes and distribute them to homeless people, trash collectors, housekeepers, etc. They also encourage a food-conscious society through market recycling experiences and lectures on campus.

The project FoodCommons@Shatin, funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund, will continue until July 2027. In the evening, overstocked veggies from the market will be distributed to low-income families and the elderly, generating green jobs and fostering a culture of food consciousness through market recycling experiences and seasonal food-wise discussions.

Let us use education and action together to sow the seeds for a food-conscious culture, so that love can sprout on campus and thrive in the community!
